Pooyesh child lovers association is a non-governmental organization founded in 2008. During these years, the Pooyesh has expanded its activities in the field of abolishing child labor as well as empowering family units who are living in southeastern suburbs of Tehran, the capital of Iran. The vision of the Pooyesh is the realization of children’s rights as well as breaking the poverty cycle The Pooyesh, as an aspiring family of devoted volunteers and responsible clerks, is trying to expand and redefine the areas of its activities over time by recognizing the needs and problems of the local community. The emphasis is on empowering locals and enhancing their presence in their own society. It is done through four major programs including basic literacy education for children and promoting their reading skills in addition to family empowerment and health assistance Basic literacy education: More than 1000 children deprived from education have benefited from the basic literacy in Pooyesh centers in Mahmoudabad village. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of the Pooyesh family, most of the immigrants were able to be registered in public schools. Accordingly, the current number of beneficiaries has been reduced to 160 children Promoting reading skills: One of the most important struggles of the immigrants and deprived villages is the low-quality educations in schools. Relying on two years of educational cooperation with public schools in the region and identifying their needs, the Pooyesh has successfully implemented two precious projects in the village and its surrounding. With these projects, more than 800 children and adults are benefiting from services. We are glad that one of our former students who is now 20 years old is the head of this project and was awarded in a nationwide book festival Family empowerment: Although children’s education and their health conditions are considered as our top priorities, a decade of experience leads us to pay attention to the child’s context in which he or she is most affected- the family. The Pooyesh has implemented a diverse range of programs such as adult literacy and maternal entrepreneurship for more than 110 families Health assistance: Educating and empowering children and families in order to prevent physical and mental harm are essential parts of our supporting programs. Besides, the Pooyesh has taken decent steps to identify ill children by periodic screening and help them with the expenses of treatments. About 150 children, 80 mothers, and 30 fathers have benefited from our services in this project thanks to our broad range of supporters including individual philanthropists as well as the private sector through their social responsibility measures
